Home > Facebook needs to 'impose misery,' and Apple tries to defend confidentiality

Blog

Facebook is in a corporate fight with apple. Though Apple is always a customer-oriented company and has never betrayed its users when it comes to privacy, the past is full of such cases where apple has faced a lot but has never disclosed user information. Similarly, in this case, the Facebook business model is pushing Facebook to revert the novel privacy policies that allow users to choose whether they want to disclose their data for any purpose or not. Apple is tough on its decision even the government is in support of that filthy data business.

Apple is very right and has been purposing a very positive and justified solution to the problem. It says that they are not stopping apps from collecting and using the data. They are just allowing the users to choose whether they want it to happen or not. Here, collecting data is ethical, yet if consent is not there, it becomes unethical.

Why It's Unethical Without Consent?

Apple says when a user agrees on the user agreement of Facebook, he is all ok with sharing his data with the Facebook app. It has all the right if a user is searching for a product on Facebook or talking about it, he can use that data to show the relevant ads, but if a user has stopped using his app and he has moved to another app, Facebook has no right to have that data to if the consent of the user is not asked over every app. Here's where things get a bit unethical, and apple opposes this model of data collection.

Apple is even allowing data collection from the applications that Facebook owns. But applications owned by others that are connected with Facebook only will need permission.

How Can Privacy Theft Cause Serious Miseries?

The problem is not so simple as it seems. When an application has access to the user's data, it mostly has access to contacts, a camera, a mic, and many others. This allows access to the most private things in a user's life, and it's quite concerning that data falls into the wrong hands, and the complete personal life of a user becomes public. It might be his visual data, location, and information, etc. Everything is at stake.

Apple and Facebook are both big beasts of the business world, yet Facebook is a more powerful company. Now it up to the user. He has to choose and be serious about what he wants. In the end, the user is the one who is at stake, and Apple is the only chance we have to sort things out.
